Richard Tutt

Professional Biography

Richard has appeared in multifarious tribunals, ranging from the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal, Employment Tribunals, the Criminal Injury Compensation Appeals Panel and Courts Martial to the High Court and the Court of Appeal.

Richard prosecutes and defends in equal measure.  He is currently a CPS Grade 2 Prosecutor.  He regularly defends in Courts Martial both in this country and abroad.

In September 2002 Richard was appointed as Junior Counsel to the Attorney General’s Panel of Prosecution Advocates, List C.  That appointment was renewed in August 2006.  Richard regularly prosecutes for HSE, HM Revenue and Customs, BIS and DWP.

Richard maintains a significant civil practice, undertaking most aspects of general common law.  With an emphasis on personal injury, this includes property and planning, contract, licensing and insolvency.  This sees him acting regularly in both fast-track and multi-track trials in the County Court.  A significant part of his civil practice requires him to advise in writing and/or in conference.

Richard is a regular speaker at Chambers’ seminars both in London and on the Western Circuit.  He is also a regular speaker for CLT in London.  In November 2007 Richard was invited by the HSE to deliver a seminar at the explosives laboratory in Buxton.
