Professional Biography
Nigel Pascoe is a Specialist practitioner in Jury advocacy in Crime - Prosecuting and Defending equally, Courts Martial and undertakes Civil work including Libel, Defamation, and Licensing.
Nigel Pascoe is the senior member of Chambers and has been one of the top jury advocates in the country since taking Silk in 1988. Formerly Leader of the Western Circuit, he prosecutes and defends equally in high-profile murder cases all the time. To date he has been briefed in well over 90 murder cases.
He specialises in Jury speeches and has a corresponding career as an actor, with a one man show - "The Trial of Penn and Mead" with over 75 performances and which he has taken to different parts of the world. He is currently due to prosecute three particularly serious murder cases. Among his reported cases are R v Hyde, Sussex and Collins, which is the leading authority on the foresight of intention in murder and more recently, R v Cairns, concerning disclosure of defence statements and the prosecution's discretion to call a witness who is not wholly credible. He provided the Archbold commentary on the case.
He believes strongly in close teamwork in major cases and good personal communication with professional and lay clients. He is IT literate, with a particular interest in all aspects of Court technology. He is also Chairman of the board of Counsel magazine and the founder and presenter of All England Quarterly Law reports as well as writing and broadcasting on a range of legal issues. He is a former chairman of the Bar Public Affairs Committee, a BBC media trainer and a contributor to the NSPCC video on the cross-examination of children.

Outside Interests
Outside interests are principally family life, then cricket, acting, after dinner speaking and playwriting. His plays include The Nearly Man, Pro Patria, Who killed William Rufus and Without Consent (http://nigelpascoeplays.com). He has also written articles in legal journals including "Letters to a young Barrister" (NLJ) and "Denial of Justice" (Counsel magazine). Currently, he is completing a new play about genetics entitled "A Piece of Nature" and also working on a film script about motor racing in the 1920s. He has also just opened a new one-man show called "Merely Players, which is an advocates tribute to Shakespeare.
