Helen Khan
Professional Biography
Helen Khan is a Family law practitioner who deals with public and private law proceedings involving children. She specialises particularly in child care cases representing parents and childrens’ Guardians and private law proceedings including s.9.5 Guardian cases and Hague Convention cases. She undertakes a full range of cases including those involving sexual, physical and emotional abuse and neglect. She often represents clients in cases with a foreign element and has undertaken work on behalf of the Official Solicitor. Due to her previous experience (14 years) as a criminal advocate she is much sought after to deal with injunctions and committal hearings. She is adept and sensitive at dealing with ethnic minority lay clients and vulnerable and social disadvantaged lay clients – particularly those with mental health issues. Recent cases have involved serious matters of child abuse alongside defending a number of applications for leave to remove children from the jurisdiction and abduction cases.
