Charles Parry
Professional Biography
Charles Parry is an experienced criminal, administrative, and appeal court practitioner. He prosecutes and defends equally. His specialism is regulatory crime and associated areas of work. He regulary conducts regulatory criminal litigation including H&S at work, (asbestos, construction, electricity, explosives, gas, heavy plant); environmental (waste, noise, pesticides); countryside (agricultural regulations, gun licenses, and rights of common); animal litigation (pedigree livestock, horses, and welfare); immigration (work permits) and related work in the civil courts, inquests, employment tribunals and disciplinary hearings (police, and financial regulation).
His recent cases include;
Prosecuting counsel in HSE v BT plc and SSE plc (indictable H&S offences arising from a fatal accident involving a breaking pole with engineer aloft).
Prosecuting counsel in R v Reliance Scrap Metal Merchants and the directors (Corporate Manslaughter and H&S offences involving a fatality from an exploding gas cylinder).
Defence Counsel for Nelson Group Services Ltd in the case which re-evaluated the concept of ‘reasonable practicability’.
He is happy to advise at an early stage of a dispute to promote resolution and/or assist in case preparation.
